Sony digital cameras, my favorite cameras
I purchased my first sony digital camera many years ago and have owned 6 or 7 Sony cameras. This model has been my favorite. I went through the first 10K photos and am now on my second set of 10K. I love this camera. It has great features like a very powerful zoom and GPS positioning. If you're on vacation, the camera marks each photo with it's GPS location. If you load the pictures to your computer, open Google maps and each photo will show as a spot on the map, when you mouse over, the picture will pop up. It clearly illustrates when and where you took each photo. Additionally, As a photography teacher, I have provided numerous Sony cameras to my students for use over the years and have used Sony's repair and replacement services many times when the cameras have been damaged. Sony's policy regarding repair is great! They will only charge you $60 regardless of the damage and will either repair or replace the unit depending on the damage. Once, a student purchased this camera from Sony. She had it only a few days when it fell out of the camera bag and landed on the concrete, breaking the lens portion. Sony sent her a new camera for $60 and the cost of shipping! If you are looking for a good all around camera that will do a lot, this is the unit. I carried a camera and bag full of lenses and accessories around for years and was just tired of carrying around all that stuff. This camera will do all of that stuff without having to carry all that junk. Also, at 16MP, it has reached the threshold to be equivalent to a 35MM film camera which was reached at 15 MP. BEST CAMERA EVER!
Until you get the hang of all the bells & whistles, & there are a lot of them, you can just set it on "auto" & it will allow you to take really great photos right from the start. It is the most amazing "point & shoot" camera I've ever seen, heard of, or used, and it's easy as pie. Of course, it will also allow you to do some really fantastic custom photography as well.
