Moving into today's tech in CNC is easy.
Decouple the cnc from the computer, stop using an old printer cable, stop the USB extension cable unplugged nightmare. Simply use you network jack and the ESS, ethernet smooth stepper. The unit set up flawlessly, the setup software worked the first time to aquire the ESS. The plug-in worked the first time with Mach4. The cnc system took several hours to configure as a first time user. I juts followed the ESS documentation. The new Mach4 or the older Mach4.... it works with both.

works good
pretty expensive for a "parallel port adapter card" option. I think $50-100 would be a more fair price for what you are getting. someone is making a lot of money on these. you do get what you pay for. got it working in short time and questions answered fastly.

Works as it should
I just attached ESS to my computer via eth cable, started to use port1 lpt instead of computer, installed plugin, put 10 9 9 9 address and it started to work as it should!
