Lightweight with great features!
I wanted to get a replacement from my old voice recorder which I have already. As my old one was old and need a lift in terms of battery life and space. Ideal and convenient for anybody who needs one for lecturer or simply to remember some exciting stuff! A good value for money too.

Palm sized voice recorder
A small well made digital recorder. Easy to use ..no loading cards or cassettes. Press the record button and go. Perfect if you need bits of conversation ..not hours and hours.. Recommend it..

Be careful what you say!
In the old days I was the proud possessor of a cassette recorder which had the habit of chewing tapes put in it, even brand new ones, when I actually recorded something the playback was so scratchy that most of the words were unrecognizable, but not now. This little beaut is simply amazing, the clarity is superb, the battery lasts a lot longer than they say it does and you can play it back time after time without any loss or hearing that crackling sound getting louder in the back-ground. I wish I had found this item a couple of years ago it is a great piece of kit and worth every penny, but watch what you say its so easy to forget that its still recording?

good for the job
I used this for meeting minutes. It was easy to set up and pause recordings in a meeting and did not need an external microphone. Having recorded the whole meeting it is easy to split the recordings so that sections can be accessed; there is then an easy find facility for fast forward. It is supplied with a quick start pamphlet in 85 or so languages but a manual can be downloaded from Sony website. Sound quality is very adequate with headphones. I expect you may be able to use your mobile phone instead if you were so inclined but this is purpose designed so much less hassle and no Apps.

Disappointed Sony...
Not a great product at all. Upon playback, recording appear distorted and often pop even when held a distance from recorded subject.. Picks up far too much background noise and drowns out recorded subject. No option to delete files on mass each one had to deleted individually which is both time consuming and monotonous... I will be looking to purchase a new dictaphone very soon and it will not be from Sony.

Easy to use and records voices well
I got this thing to record TODOs and ideas when I'm on the go - eg, walking or driving. It's great for that! The microphone and noise cancellation manage to clearly capture my voice when there's background noise, and I can operate it one-handed without problems.
