MS Word... Move Over!
I have used WordPerfect off and on since 1989, and after buying a Mac and using my old PCs only occasionally, have had to get by with MS Word for several years. For typical text based documents with minimal graphic elements, especially multi-column or multi panel (such as a church bulletin or wedding program), WordPerfect is still a champion for rapid formatting with professional looking results. Try this is Word, for example: Rapidly set up three panels on a legal sheet of paper in landscape mode to create a wedding program. The program consists of program contents that includes text for left, center, and right adjusted text elements on the same line, including dot leaders to connect the elements. How many times I have seen programs of this nature with ragged right margins, or folds not correctly placed in the program, etc. WordPerfect is hands-down better for this sort of formatting.
If you're into web-based, group editing documents, then later versions of MS Word are great. But if your main goal is to create programs for churches, funerals, weddings, etc., WordPerfect is still the best I have seen, and X3 does a great job.
There may be issues loading X3 with Windows 10. I set it up with no problems with my new Windows 10 laptop, but a friend has had issues with it (documents would load, but would not save). We loaded a copy on another computer and had the same problem until we right-clicked on the icon to launch the program, and select "troubleshoot compatibility." Problem solved.
If you can get this to work on your machine, it's a fabulous piece of software!
