More than meets the eye
I have been using wireless gear since it became commonly available decades ago. Much of the quirkiness of the practice has come to be accepted as normal, and is what I expected with this unit. I also went in thinking like every other wireless: hook it up, put in the battery (more on that in a minute), and play. That's what I did, and it didn't work well, so learn from my mistake. I hooked up as listed above, and less than 100 feet away it started cutting in and out. No amount of adjusting and turning toward the stage fixed it. I wasn't pleased! Back to the manual, and noted the section on the channel button... once everything is up and running (we use other routers) then hit the channel button and it will find a clear channel. I did, it did, and we were golden from then on. Done that since, and never had a single dropout. Tone is crystal clear, with no digital funkiness, sounds like a cable. Batteries: this is the money. I have been using a battery a night for so long I should have a retirement with Duracell. This unit comes with a rechargeable battery that gets (and I checked it on stage) 16 or more hours per charge. Seriously? 16+, no kidding. Then you just stick it in the receiver housing and recharge, right back to 16 or more. I am told it will get you an hour or so on 15 minutes charge, just to get you through a set. Awesome! It also displays the remaining battery time on the receiver, which gives great comfort you won't suddenly go silent while playing. So, if this thing makes 100 gigs, it will have paid for itself in batteries alone. No extra batteries needed is the new real deal. And the transmitters are solidly made, much better than the unit I am replacing and more solid than any in recent memory. Solid switches, a short and stocky antenna, just well thought out. This transmitter purchased in this auction is a second for my backup guitar. Charged battery, paired with the receiver per instructions and it is up and running. Excellent sound quality, less than stellar robustness
In general, the product is very good. The sound quality is as good as the best wired cables and the wireless reception is excellent even in my wifi infested house. The only downside for me is that I like attaching them to the back of my straps (I have 4 running on the same receiver, not simultaneously) and if I sit down, the transmitter tends to rub on the back of the chair and the antenna cover may incur damage. While most of the unit is in cased in metal, the antenna port is plastic and sensitive to wear, causing degradation in reception performance. I wish the antenna was inyernal. Also, the on off switch protrudes too much and may be fl8cked off by accident. It can be locked on the receiver side from the receiver side, but I think a flush mount switch would be best.
