The Yamaha RX-A3020 9.2 Channel 160 Watt Receiver is a 9 channel stereo home theater receiver amplifier. The Yamaha RX-A3020 amp delivers 140 watts per two-channel output at 8 ohms. The audio processing is enhanced by Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD DSP master audio, Dolby digital plus, and DTS-HD high-resolution audio. These features are designed to eliminate sound inclusions and present high fidelity audio from a number of sources. This aventage series Yamaha amp has a built-in analog to HDMI video upconversion up to 1080p thanks to the HQV Vida processor. For automatic setup of speakers and surround sound, the Yamaha RX-A3020 9.2 Channel amplifier employs YPAO technology. YPAO stands for Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer, and it includes a microphone to help tune speaker placement to room dynamics. The settings in the Cinema DSP modes help add depth and resolution to music, video sound, and movies. Another feature is adaptive dynamic range control, which adjusts the volume on drastic cinema sound effects and louder commercials to smooth out the listening experience. There is even a silent cinema setting that simulates surround sound when listening with headphones. The phono headphone jack is concealed behind a front panel door, as are a number of controls, a USB port, HDMI input, audio and video inputs, and zone control with discrete buttons for zone 1 and zone 2 audio. The Yamaha RX-A3020 receiver is internet-ready and can readily play music from a computer or stream from Internet radio stations. The front panel USB input allows the receiver to play audio directly from a jump drive. In addition to these options, the Yamaha RX-A3020 receiver includes Apple AirPlay, which lets users listen to music from iTunes, as well as play audio from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The front panel also has an optical auxiliary input for connecting optical protocol devices. The back panel includes 7 HDMI inputs for such items as a Blu-ray DVD player or DSP device and 2 HDMI outputs. The RX-A3020 has a built-in HD radio tuner, Wi-Fi, and a compressed music enhancer to increase the sound quality of MP3 music or other digital audio files. There is also a standard AM/FM radio that has 40 station presets. The Yamaha RX-A3020 receiver includes a free Yamaha remote control app that enables the user to operate the amp from an iPhone or Android device. The remote control app can adjust speakers, subwoofer levels, Blu-ray players, and a vast array of movies, music, and even album art through control and navigation of the full-color, on-screen menu. Bought this to replace my Sony STR-DE985.
Have to say this was a worthwhile upgrade and the sound quality is massively better than any Marantz, Denon, or Sony. With 160 watts per channel at 8 OHMs you power ANY speakers without much effort.
