Best HD Radio Tuner
When hooked to my HD TV antennae in the attic, this digital receiver gives crystal clear HD radio. I am connecting it through my Marantz amp. Has the "presence" my Chevrolet truck radio has. We have several HD radio stations in Dallas and I always wanted to get out of my vehicle and come in the house to finish my "favorite" song at the time. This little jewel makes that happen. A remote control was additional original equipment, but I bought this without and don't seem to miss that feature.

One of the Best Tuners Ever Made
This tuner has greater sensitivity and selectivity than other tuners I have used. With the XDR Guy modifications, it runs cool and the sound quality has been improved (the high frequency rolloff has been eliminated). With the cooler temperature, I expect much longer life. Some stations that don't come in clearly on my Carver TX-11a tuner come in clearly on the Sony XDR-F1HD.

Amazing little AM/FM tuner that beats the big boys
The Sony XDR-F1HD is a very sophisticated radio AM/FM tuner in a small package. The FM portion is amazing - it can tune both older analog FM signals and newer digital 'HD Radio' broadcasts. The tuner has very high selectivity - for FM, it has 16 different filters that applied to minimize interference from adjacent channels, and improve the signal to noise ratio. In this regard, the Sony has the best filtering - even 'super tuners' mentioned below have only 2 or 3 selectable intermediate frequency filters. The FM stereo decoding is the best I have encountered - easily beating the Carver TX-11a, McIntosh MR-78 and MR-80, and the Kenwood KT-8300. On FM stereo, the signal is almost as quiet as 'Mono' right down to weak signals - just amazing! On the negative side, it is built like a low cost consumer electronics item, does not have audiophile-grade analog output circuits, and can benefit from a small fan to keep it from running warm, possibly shortening the life of the electronics. Overall, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages for this little gem.

Great Compact Unit with Big Sound
Excellent reception, sensitivity and sound. It gets a little warm in use so know to expect that. There's a stringy (included) "Y" antenna that must be run toward and near a window. Otherwise, reception will cut in and out all day. Ensure the unit you purchase has a working remote control as replacements are difficult to find. Also, ensure that your unit comes with a set of operating instructions as the dated controls (circa 2008 to 2012, I believe) are confusing.

The best tuner for your stereo
If you still love listening to the Radio, you need this. The best clear perfect reception. Even distant and weaker can come in crispy and clear

amazing sound, clunky interface
Like others have said, having the clock on all the time is not great, needs power all the time to avoid losing presets etc, that said, the sound is really really good, both digital and analog...

Great tuner!
Selectivity is awesome with my outside antenna. Fidelity is very good. This little unit generates quite a bit of heat,so consider ventilation when you place it.

Small & compact does get very warm when on but very good sound Remote essential for dimmer if panel but controls are on top of unit also Recommended
