Most Compact Full Featured Clean Receiver on the Market from the Onkyo Family
I’m using this receiver with the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.1 System these speakers are small with a big sound. I was worried about this receiver’s power rating as it is a slim and rated at 50w at 4 ohm loads. My lower rated amps run around 90-130w @8 ohms and my higher rated system pushes 770w @4 ohms per channel RMS.
I bought this for my Gazebo so I wanted a compact light weight amp that was a full featured surround sound/stereo system and I didn’t want low quality like you get with T-amps where you deal with random pops from time to time.
This is a SOLID CLEAN amp with full control and PLENTY of drive, I was extremely surprised at how well it handled the Klipsch speakers. In the past you needed to buy AB Class amps to get decent sound which meant you had bigger systems that were less efficient. D Class amps are much smaller and more efficient but they typically lacked in the low end giving you a shallow tinny sound, that isn’t the case these days.
The only negative to this fine receiver is you need a TV or Monitor to set it up as the Menu will not display its options one the receivers display. Otherwise It plays compressed music well as it has an enhancer and it streams very well. The menu display is easy to use and not confusing at all if you are use to fidelity systems setups.
Bottom line you can’t beat this receiver for sound quality, drive in its size category, ease of use, and rich feature set. I’m going to get another one if not more as I have friends that would gain from this very nice receiver system.
