Disapointed with Garmin, I expected better
As far as the product is concerned, After spending over $500.00 on a GPS that has no driving capability, forcing me to buy the "City Navigator" software from Garmin, for another $80.00 then spending another $100.00 on a protective film, case, dash mount and Micro SD card to store maps and photos. Now I'm into it for almost $700.00 and find the topo maps together with the "Birds Eye" view is pathetic joke. Google Maps makes this overpriced piece of plastic look like a cheap Chinese knockoff. My phone has better resolution, mapping clarity and a larger screen, with the App. directly from Geocaching which renders that portion of the Garmin next to useless. The BaseCamp software is abysmal at best. Good thing it's free, It is NOT compatible with the new Windows 10 "Edge" browser in order to use the Garmin Communicator "Plug In" to verify the $80.00 map I just downloaded. (No Warnings on the Garmin Website and promos's about this) After much frustration with the help work around, finally had to download another browser to get the maps to work. When I was finally able to use the driving portion the automatic zoom feature was appreciated and the voice commands were accurate and loud enough due to the expensive Garmin Dash mount with built in speaker. Trying to upload any Geocaching info or events to the unit through the BaseCamp software also requires the Garmin Communicator "Plug In" and needed to go back to another browser to upload anything. Windows 10 has been out for a couple of years now, you would think Garmin would have made their software compatible by now?!?
Overall I'm extremely disappointed with the overpriced, difficult installation and non user friendliness of the software and unit.
The versatility of my Samsung Note 4 phone makes this unit an expensive boat anchor.
