Great value for money!
I needed a SatNav to use on my classic motorcycle rather than borrowing the Garmin Nuvi 3597 from the car. The motorbike is 6v so I hoped to be able to run this device from a battery pack, as I had been doing with the Garmin. Yes, this gizmo is happy with that power source!
In the box was a UK power supply to USB Mini plug lead, a cigarette lighter socket plug to USB Mini plug lead, a USB standard to USB Mini lead for use with a PC, a cloth bag to keep the gizmo safe, a set of bud earphones and a windscreen mount. The device comes with a stylus that lives in a hole in the corner. You do not have to use the stylus, any pointy thing will work, including a finger nail. The Garmin is touch sensitive, this device is point sensitive.
If you plug the device into a PC you are able to see all the files and just copy them to make a back up - simple!
This device fits into my existing handlebar mounted waterproof GPS holder.
The screen is a bit smaller than the Garmin at 4 1/4" diagonal; the Garmin is 5" diagonally.
The interface looks cheaper than the Garmin but this device costs at least a quarter of the price of the Garmin so not a problem!
Screen is not glass so may, (will) show signs of wear eventually.
This device is running on Windows CE operating system. It boots very quickly.
European maps are already loaded so no need to buy an SD card, (as I had to do with the more expensive Garmin!)
I have had the device lock up while changing settings twice since getting it but the provided stylus has a pointy end that goes into a small hole on the back to reset the device. Very quick reboot and the destination was remembered and route reloaded.
There are many settings to play with including displaying my current speed but I would like to see that displayed a little larger, (I'm 67 and my eyes are not as good these days). There is an option to make the voice let me know if I'm exceeding the local speed limits.
Big Plus from the Garmin, especially on a motorcycle is an earphone socket. This means I could just listen to the voice guide on the earphones and keep the GPS in my pocket. This could also be very useful when pedestrian mode is selected.
I've only had this item for a few days but so far it seems to be excellent value for money.
I have not yet tried any of the other advertised functions, such as games or playing music or connecting to the car radio.
