EXCELLENT AND EXTRAORDINARY!!!
This is the unrated version, with 12 minutes added, that was shown outside the U.S. The film, from the book by Margarite Duras, is the autobiographical tale of when she was 15, in 1920s Vietnam, and began an affair with a Chinese male a dozen years her senior. There are multiple scenes of intense lovemaking, with full frontal nudity by the female lead, Jane March, when she was just 18, and barely of age. Miss March is as beautiful as was the country when the French attempted to colonize it. There is conflict within the family, between the eldest of two brothers and her, conflict because of a lack of money, and ultimately, conflict between the two lovers. If you're searching for the unconventional tale of love and lust, with no inhibitions, this film has it all--and is worth multiple viewings for the telling of the tale, and the beauty of Miss March.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Well done adaptaytion of the book.

Very melancholic, sad and tender
There are scenes in this movie that are beyond words and leave tears in the eyes and tears in the heart the most heartbreaking part of the film was when the aristocratic Chinese landlord's son told his father that he did not wish to partake of the arranged marriage told him that that a love like theirs was st strong it only happens in one lifetime and the crossing of the Mekong and her tears of sadness, regret and separation. The emptiness of her eyes when he did not show to meet her one last time and then the look on her face when she saw his car in the same space they had met when she was leaving Vietnam and lastly years later when he told her that he has always loved her and he shall love her until he dies and she was his one true love I would like to believe in another world and time that they may have ended up together.
