A used microscope that needed a bit of effort to operate. Great buy!
Given that this is a used item that has clearly been sitting around unused for a time, I was very pleased with its overall condition. Sure, there was the usual expected dust, and wear and tear, this was an excellent deal. There were a few parts that were loose (incident light attachment) or missing (the light compartment was taped shut because the screws are likely missing - I will remove that when I need to change the light bulb). I could not start using it right 'out of the box' because all of the movable parts (magnification ring, illumination knob, focusing knobs) were very difficult to move/operate, which is expected in a microscope that has been sitting around unused for a long time. So, I spent a couple of hours loosening up these controls with the appropriate cleaning and lubricating agents. Most importantly, the optics are excellent (one of the lenses inside the ocular tube housing had a couple of smudges but could be easily cleaned), the lighting is still precisely aligned, and for all practical purposes is as good as new!! I am very pleased with the quality of this item and with my purchase. Kudos to the seller!!
