Best Preamp I’ve ever owned
This interface is incredible. An industry leading DAC, this is a solid investment without a doubt. Recordings are super clean through the two built in preamps, and it’s very versatile when using with other equipment. I usually connect it to a John Hardy M1 mic preamp to have some more channels to record. One of the best traits of the UCX is it’s portability. You can take this thing anywhere, just slip it in your backpack. There is USB and Firewire outputs so it can connect to a range of different workstations. Also, if you have some massive computer failure at a gig, the UCX can record directly to itself. I have not used this feature, as I imagine it’s for catastrophic instances only, but it’s good to know about. Excellent interface for Windows
I got this interface at a great price to use all of my synths and drum Machines due to all the I/Os it has. This has been super stable and reliable and the sound quality is exceptional for the price. Upgraded from a Steinberg UR242 and the difference is night and day. Plus side is you can potentially hold onto this interface forever due to RME always updating their drivers.
