  • Superb turntable

I haven't owned a proper turntable since I was a DJ 30 years ago but decided to take a punt on this as all the reviews were positive and the price was excellent. It arrived by Courier earlier than expected and was nicely packaged, with full instructions for assembly. There are some reports that the turntable belt and the counter weight are tricky to put on and I can understand that. However, I took 20 mins to take it our of the box and put an LP on. I had some advantage from my experience as a DJ, but it just needs patience and some common sense. The instructions are confusing if you are new to this type of turntable, so I reccomend you just think it through and it will make sense where everything goes. Hold one side of the belt and rotate the turntable slowly and the other side should slowly go round the actual turntable body. It needs changing to the lower ridge if you are playing 45's, don't forget! I used the optical output and connected to a Denon RM41 receiver, playing through Tannoy Eclipse speakers and a Yamaha subwoofer and it's superb sound. I'm now buying lots of vinyl and enjoying a very good turntable, a steal at the price I got it for. Get one before they disappear from the market, youbwon't regret it. John

  • Might as well be good, depends on how you like your playback

I bought this one - NEW TURNTABLE FROM A RECOGNIZED DEALER - for two reasons mainly: I was almost enthusiastic about another Project model deck - a cheaper one, so I decided I want another one and this "Digital"model with somewhat a different tonearm than the one I have looked good enough (with the somewhat larger tonearm tube wand diameter. Here are the trouble onset: Bizarrely, It came without manual, without any user instruction or information what goes where ...(strange enough), also some of the little components were packed in different kind of bags and the counterbalance was hidden within the packaging materials; not a good start and not a good impression. Not having the manual I treated the audio connection the same way I treated those of the cheaper model - Problems-Problems-Problems: When connected to a preamplifier box with a RIAA curve correction and MM magnlification stage (nothing fancy almost a standard one you get for about 30 GBP) I thought I am blowing my speakers and damaging the power amps. A damaging noise of malfunctioning electronics. I checked the supplied (almost junk) interconnects - they were fine, no fault. checked the grounding connections - no fault found. I re-connect the other model again to the RIAA MM preamplifier just to be sure it had no intermediate damage - it has no fault. I contacted the seller who advised that no external RIAA curve & MM amplification should be used for the signal flowing from the turntable RCA output; the RCA interconnect should be connected directly to any high level input: Now one should be a prophet, a future seeing to guess this without the use of a manual and instructions. Connected to a high-level input and it started playing: But the sound was unimpressive, veiled, foggy, in-decisive,not dimensional, and had no depth of stage. DISAPPOINTMENT - just a junk of a sound. Something that a change of interconnect would not help much. The solution would be to open the box where the tonearm wires are connected to the electronic board and add a bypass to the stupid Project deck built-in RIAA curve correction and MM amplification - leading the bypass to a set of good RCA female-chassis connectors and use the external box MM & RIAA curve correction that serves the other somewhat cheaper but better deck. As it is - beware: You are not hearing the full potential of either Orthofon cartridge or the deck.

  • Excellent value turntable with digital output.

Really nothing to complain at this price. Almost half retail. I purchased this mainly to play my 7" singles on as I don't wish to waste my MC cartridge on my other turntable. I required a digital out as my pre amp only has one analogue input. So ideal for the job. As I only paid £165 from Henley so I added a acrylic platter and a linear PSU upgrades and it's still less than RRP. I'd say the linear PSU makes most difference due to the built in phono amp. Not the last word in hi-fi, but at the price a very good product.

  • Proe-Ject Essential 11 Turntable , excellent , great sound,

Excellent turntable, sounds great, did have a problem setting it up , at first the sound was very quiet coming through the speakers , then realized it was the phono/line in switch i needed , found out it was underneath the base , not beside the other connecters , so i switched it to line in, and it sounded great , i bought it because it had an optical connector which i can get sound through my sound bar and rear speakers, very pleased with this turntable , would buy again,
