I've not had a chance to ride this group yet because of delays in other components of my new build but so far the experience is A+. There are literally no wires, the entire system is a proprietary Bluetooth network and the pairing process is really simple.
I've installed both derailleurs to the frame and once the back wheel and cassette were added I'm able to calibrate and index both derailleurs without any handlebars. This part is brilliant - setup is very easy and the ability to micro adjust each and every gear shift is fantastic
As far as installation goes this group is amazing and only time will tell if the ride quality is the same but I can't help but think that this is still a very expensive piece of kit. This really should be the future and I can understand that the R&D costs must be recouped but this amount of money for what is essentially 3 pieces of kit hurts the wallet.
Oh, and SRAM are no longer including the USB dongle in the kit anymore. They've never issued a firmware update since launch so its seen as surplus to requirements. Hmm, what happens when they do want to issue one (for whatever reason) - do I have to purchase one?
On the whole I think this group is amazing but its very expensive and I feel a bit vulnerable without the ability to upgrade the firmware.
