Zovirax beats Abreva
Zovirax (acyclovir/aciclovir) works for me. Abreva (Docosanol) just doesn't work at all. Tell the US FDA to "Cease and Desist" in its unjustified protection of Avanir Pharmaceuticals' Abreva as "the only nonprescription cold sore medicine approved by the FDA to shorten healing time". I can get this in the UK or Mexico at any drugstore, gift shop, even in the airport. It should be available over the counter in the US too. I'm not a fan of the pump bottle. I can't tell how much is left in the tube, so I don't know if I need to carry a backup tube or place an order for more. Also, the cap doesn't stay on very well, so if you carry it in your pocket, you risk having the cap come off and having it squirt in your pants.

Effective for Prevention
I have always found this to be effective, especially if applied frequently at the first sign of "Tingling". I rarely develop to actual blisters when using this cream. The pump action is more convenient than the tube, which tends to spill out as soon as it is opened, especially if it has been in your pocket!

great product but too dear.
it works well, However I bought some similar (different make) in Home Bargains for 99 pence which works just as well and is in date.(not 3/4 months beyond use by date.) as this is.

Handy to keep in your pocket for whenever it's needeed
An excelllant product which does exactly what it says on the tin. I've been using it for several years and have never found anything better

Cold sore treatment.
Had bad cold sores after a very bad cold/ flu took 2 weeks to clear up took numerous purchases of this product because of only 2g in each tube.

It works fast!
I tried just about every over the counter product without any success. Zovirax works fast and is a great value. Worth it's weighting gold!
