Whoever designed this unit should have had their head examined.
This is the AC Power Adapter that is recommended by the manufacturer Tascam for their DR-05 Linear PCM Recorder. At first we tried employing a generic cell phone charger with the same (5.0V - 2A) specs, but unfortunately, that didn't work. The generic charger kept powering down, without warning, during playback. So - first the good news. The Tascam PS-P520E does what it is supposed to do. Not much we can add to that. Now - the bad news. Whoever designed this unit should have had their head examined by a licensed psychiatrist. There are two generations of the same DR-05 that come furnished with two different styles of female USB receptacle, which are not interchangeable. This necessitates that the PS-P50E comes equipped with two six-inch (06") USB adapter cables, included. This is a major design flaw in the AC Adapter. It is very easy for the USB adapter to accidentally become disengaged during recording and playback. A much more durable design would have been to make the base unit that plugs into the wall employ a female USB receptacle. In this way, a common-or-garden variety USB adapter cable could be used to power the DR-05, with less danger of the cable becoming disconnected. This AC Adapter list price is at thirty bucks. The generic we purchased was only five, but was a great deal more user-friendly in design. Well packaged and shipped fast!
The shipping and order of this product was flawless. I actually came faster than expected. I will be using it for my Tascam GB-10 Guitar & Bass Trainer/Recorder. I plugged it up and it work fine as powering the unit. Still trying to figure out the USB connection for it because I don't see the wiring for it. Did the main thing in powering the unit.
