Product Information

Leon (Jean Reno) is a precise, calculating hit man--a consummate professional, with no family and no friends. However, he has casually befriended Mathilda (Natalie Portman, in an auspicious debut), a 12 year-old neighbor whose entire family, including her adored 4-year-old brother, is wiped out by some crooked DEA agents. The girl pleads with Leon to teach her how to be a "cleaner" and avenge her little brother's death. However, once she learns a few skills, Mathilda saunters into the DEA offices with the sole intention of killing the psychotic agent (Gary Oldman) who actually masterminded the executions. But her intended victim turns the tables on her, and Leon must rescue her. LEON was French director Luc Besson's first film shot in America.

this is the version you want!
I already knew I loved the movie, having seen it on cable years ago. I purchased a DVD previously, but was disappointed because it didn't seem as good as what I remembered, and also didn't make as much sense. I subsequently discovered my DVD had scenes cut out of it (the OTHER DVD, NOT this product). The version sold here (the deluxe version) is wonderful because it contains the important scenes that were cut out of the US version. The American censors clearly a skewed view on reality to cut the scenes they deemed unacceptable. Nothing objectionable actually happens in these scenes. We think something might, but it doesn't, and the characters do the "right thing". With these scenes restored, the movie flows better, makes more sense, and is not lacking some important backstory info on the main adult character, Leon. I definitely recommend this as the only version one should watch.

The way the director intended the film to be seen
This is the uncut, unrated version of the film that has not be compromised by a short sighted American film rating system. If you have ever watched the American release version a felt that some things were missing from the story it is because several important scenes were cut out of the second half. This is the version you must see.

This movie is a fantastic movie and the fact that we got the deluxe edition for the same price was incredible this movie is well worth watching plenty of action good plot excellent storyline I would highly recommend this movie to anybody that likes action movies at movies with a Twist

This is The Version to Get !!
This is the good, full version. The other version which is just called '"The Professional" is wayyy too edited, so much interesting stuff gets cut. Get this version. The Leon version. Ok? Good. :)

Leon The Professional is light entertainment but a fun film to watch.
An entertaining film and Natalie Portman's debut. No great depth to the story - very straight forward but enjoyable.

Leon the Professional
Outstanding script, acting, and cast for this action movie. Highly recommend. This is the longer version than the Professional. The extended version did not hurt the quality of the movie in any way. Well worth the watch.
