  • Palm is Palm

Though the technology is outdated now,old is still gold.Compared to the new fangled devices, the Palm is still a pretty sturdy piece of hardware that still connects and functions like it was supposed to in its time. Yes guaranteed new technology is faster, sleeker and shinier but it has its own woes. If you are looking for a handy device to use as an eBook Reader, browse the web, play music via bluetooth to a connected speaker and still have a long battery life after all this then you will get far with the Palm. Unfortunately the APP market for it is officially shutdown operations but you can still acquire what you need from people like me who love the sturdy form factor and simple APPs that do what they should. Having WiFi and Bluetooth is an added bonus. Of course Memory is limited but don’t forget the device came out when a gigabyte of memory was considered a lot by manufacturers and people were using Pocket PC’s with 64MB etc. The device can support up to a 4 GB SD card with a special method but a normal FAT32 formatted 2GB card will work out of the box. Enough to store multiple books and music. If nothing else get it for its sentimental value when the pencil box Nokia’s were the in thing and a single battery charge lasted for days not hours.

  • Works better that had expected but I have not used its newest features yet.

This Palm TX PDA handheld responded better to my desktop software in the syncing process, which is the most important feature for me. I had to down the Palm desk software 6.2.2 from the internet (the CD software 4.2 didn't work well with my Windows 10) and the installation was smooth. Notices that the 6.2.2 software does not contain the newest Palm TX feature (Document-to-Go). I don't know how that will work in the future. I choose to sync with Palm Desktop and not with Microsoft Outlook. It sync with my previous Palm desktop and TX PDA data and has been working great since then. (It responds much better than the Palm TX I purchase 3 years ago). I'm very satisfied with the product. Thank you.

  • Lightweight with great features.

It's a mobile computer in the palm of your hand. It has connections capabilities for WIFI, VPN, Bluetooth, IR to PC/Handheld, and many more. It has great software like IM+ for Skype, Web Browser, Phone dialer, E-mail, SMS. You can enter graffiti or access the keyboard including numbers and international vowels.

  • My Best Tool!

I have been using Palm Pilots since 1999 and, although I also use a smart phone, I still lean heavily on the Palm Pilot and my absolute favorite is the Palm TX because it has every feature I want and need for my personal and professional needs. The expansion card with the Isilo Reader App allows me to read countless documents and whole books with great ease. It has an excellent MP Player and a very readable screen for every use: calendar, memos, contacts, tasks. I like the Note Pad, which I use to scribble quick notes on. I synchronize this device on a Linux Desktop (Xubuntu) using Jpilot, a Linux App that works seamlessly with my PC Laptop. (It works of course on a Windows Desktop, using the Palm Software, but I am not a Windows user)

  • The last Palm - but not the one I prefer

I am an accumulator (not really a collector) of Palm devices; I currently own five different models, and the TX is the latest addition. It is larger and heavier than earlier models. It's great advantage is wifi capabilities, but I won't be using it for wifi, and I suspect most users won't. In addition, it gives you a lot more storage than earlier models. Again, I find this unimportant. If I had to recommend a Palm model to the first-time user, it would be the E2. It has non-volitile storage (like the TX), and is lighter and thus easier to carry around.

  • Palm TX Still the One for Me

Yes, this tech is outdated; however, it is awesome and I still require it for the following reasons: I started with a Palm PDA in the year 2000. I had to keep multiple meetings scheduled on it, often at the same time. The Palm calendar software was perfect for this. When I tried to convert it to the Outlook format, which was required in order to upload my calendar to my Hotmail/Outlook/MSN account online, it would not work unless every single double-scheduled event was given its own non-conflicting time frame. This was impossible! So, I keep my calendar separate with this awesome PDA, syncing it with my Windows XP computer to keep my calendar history safe. As far as the device itself, it is the best!--great screen, great memory (expandable), Bluetooth and WiFi capable, and lots of (outdated) task capabilities that still suit my needs.

  • Palm T|X

I've used Palm products for more than 15 years now, and one of the best ones is the T|X. I use it for it's calendar feature, address book, solitaire game, media player, and most of all for e-reader and mobipocket. One person called it a mini Kindle and was impressed that I had a book reader I could carry in my pocket. The display of text is sharp, and battery life is plenty long enough for me to read all the way on long airplane flights. Yes, I do know that my phone can do all of those things and more, but using the Palm saves data usage and battery life.

  • The Palm is a wonderful instrument, Palm OS not so much.

I have used Palm for more than 20 years, from the first one built to the Tungsten E2 which I still own and still works very well. Since the E2 had become difficult if not impossible to synchronize with my Windows 10 PC, (Bluetooth works only sporadically and after tweaking the COM ports forever, I tried the TX because it advertises Wi-Fi Sync. Unfortunately, the TX did not recognized my router at all and I could not use it. It is a shame that no one updated the Palm OS to work with modern computers. Left a lot of Palm users in the dust.

  • Palm Tungsten TX set works decently

Complete set ready to use except for missing charger. Battery is weak and may soon need to be replaced. Glad to have two styli and a decent (even old) case as accessories.

  • If you can avoid obnoxious screen whine, the Tungsten TX is fine.

I picked this up as part of a retro tech kick I've been on. Started with an older Palm OS device, but wanted something with WiFi, which led me here. Positives -Classic Palm resistive touchscreen. Responds to a light touch compared to many Pocket PC devices. -Huge array of Palm OS software/games available if you know how to find that sort of thing. Negatives -Screen whine. Apparently a widespread issue with time, my used model was affected. There's an app (Whinehack) that helps, but it's still pretty annoying and certainly doesn't entice me to use the device. Opening an intense app also stops the hack from working, bringing whine back to full, very annoying volume. -Palm OS really shows its age more than the device. Despite having much more capable hardware than the Handspring Visor Neo I also have, the most useful parts of Palm OS function quite similarly. Despite the 200Mhz processor, there's no HTML web browser that is even a little bit usable from my testing, which is a disappointment. There's apparently a hack to allow WPA security, but I haven't tested this. If you're looking for a Palm OS 5 device so you can run a wide variety of old apps, this fits the bill, but the screen whine is annoying enough that I wouldn't recommend one of these for a retro tech enthusiast in 2018. Hopefully the value goes up on these, though I'm certainly not helping myself with this review.
