Yamaha's are good!
I'm a sax player of many years trying to learn trombone and Yamaha's are always a good place to start though they do get pricey. Normally I buy pro horns but a student model is excellent for learning and the Yamaha's excel at both student and professional horns. They have a consistency to their products that makes buying over the internet, unseen, much more comfortable than horns that don't have that consistency in the manufacturing process. My saxes are both Yamaha's (alto Custom 82Z and tenor (yts62), and Selmers alto (reference 54) and bari (intermediate). That being said there are a lot of good horns out there to be had of different brand names. I'm old school and went the tried and true route but I wouldn't be afraid to try other brand names as I've learned it's really the player that makes the sound and what you want from the horn is reliability and performance.
