They got it right the first time
I bought a pair of these speakers about ten years ago and have used them every day since. When I needed a second set for a new notebook with poor built-ins I didn't hesitate. Logitech V20 USB Powered Portable Speakers
These work great for portable. If the volume input is low and you turn them up they clip pop and rattle. If the volume input is high like from the internet or YouTube they work pretty good. They don't have much bass unless there sitting on a hard surface that can vibrate with them. Then they have another problem, they dance all over the table and fall off.
