Great product. Small Footprint.
The Unifi Controller does a great job of managing any Ubiquiti Unifi products you have in your network. I had been running the controller on my Windows PC. That works. This little device runs all the time and is easy to access from any machine on the network. It does take an extra port on your network switch, but I think it is worth it for the convenience it provides.

Ubiquiti cloud key Gen 1 - very good, but quirky
Ubiquiti cloud keys make it easy for an IT pro to remotely manage / monitor Ubiquiti access points, switches and gateways. I do not recommend remote firmware upgrading cloud keys however. Do use the auto backup feature, you will likely need it when you have to factory reset these models.

Another Reason to use Ubiquiti Network Products
This is a great product for keeping tabs on a client's network. You can monitor the health of the equipment and keep an eye on traffic. Further it allows you to update the firmware of the network d=infrastructure devices without having to make a site visit. Because the cloud key is a small, unobtrusive dedicated device, you do not have tie a up a PC to do your monitoring,.

Great wireless controller for those who need more than the basics
This is an great product, but please only purchase if you know what you are buying. I have used wireless controllers in other environments and knew that Ubiquiti is an excellent "pro-sumer" grade solution. It isn't a simple install in an existing environment, but once running, it is stable and reliable.

great solution
After initial setup, its way easier to just plug this into the nextwork than having a computer 24x7 on. Unless you have a server already dedicated, this device is a must. If you are using V1, make sure to get a battery backup for it.

Good for Unifi device access from multiple PCs and remote locations.
Understand that this device does the same thing as the free Unifi software. If you only use one PC, use the software. But if you want to access Unifi devices remotely or from multiple PCs the Cloud Key is needed. If you don't have any Unifi devices this device won't help. Understand that (unlike most consumer network equipment) Unifi devices were designed to function as an integrated system under a single Unifi (hardware or software) controller. But the controller is only needed to configure or monitor the devices and can be shut down except when reconfiguration or analysis is needed. Finally, the Cloud Key is powered by POE or a USB cable/charger, which are not included.

Small and do the job well
It's easier to have this plug in locally in the network. Not very quick to response but adequate and get the job done without the need to build a local physical server or on cloud.

Replace VM
I had the software running on a vm on my laptop. I would only turn all that on every so often. Now that I have this, I can view my network all the time and from anywhere in the world with Ubiquitis website access. It's nice. Well worth the switch.

The CloudKey is an essential piece of hardware if you have Ubiquiti gear. I was getting tired of corrupt database running the controller on the computers. The key is snappy and works great.
