Fresh Win 7 Pro, easy peasy.
Had to restore two Vostro 230 boxes to fresh Win 7 Pro. No recovery disks or partitions to be accessed. Nor did the generic Microsoft recovery disks work with Dell products. This did the trick, and very well. It even automatically found the authentication key and activated the software.
