Vjekoslav 'Maks' Luburic' (April 21, 1911 - April 20, 1969), a war criminal, was a member of the Croatian World War II regime, the UstaSe, best known as the commander of the Jasenovac concentration camp. He was born in Humac near LjubuSki, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As per his own words he was born in a Serbian Orthodox family, converted into the Roman Catholicism in his boyhood. In his youth he was a low profile criminal once charged with vagrancy sentenced to two days in prison, and second time for the embezzlement of some money belonging to the public stock exchange in Mostar
