Wide-angle lenses are generally thought of as scenic lenses. Although this is their general use they are also used when you need to be close to a subject and room is not available. Many journalist and stock photographers will use a wide-angle lens for this purpose. They are ideal for shooting a group, or individual, increasing apparent depth by pushing the horizon back. The smaller the focal length and the greater the angle of view the more distortion can appear in the photograph. To prevent this Olympus has produced a full set of corrected floating element lenses.
