The Canon XL2 camcorder is a professional camcorder that runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lasts about an hour between charges. The camera records in 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 ratio. The XL2 has what is called an open architecture design, which means that you are able to put different lenses on it if you do not want to use the 20x optical zoom lens that comes with the camera. However, the optical lens that comes with this camera is likely to be sufficient, as it produces high quality videos with no loss of image quality. This is true even when it is at its maximum zoom, because it has an optical stabilization system that keeps the video smooth. My first 3-ccd camera
I am new in the video arena, but let me tell you that this is my first camera...let alone be a Canon xl2. I haven't had the chance to play with the features this camera has to offer. I know that the reviews were great. I know that this camera is great in low-light conditions and great for cinematography. So far I am very excited to have purchased this camera. Incredible SD camera!

Rather weighty (maybe a little more so that it’s competitors of that time)
